Putting down the mouse and picking up a pencil

Before Teabag Digital became part of Intermarketing Agency, I had the opportunity to work part time, which gave me the flexibility to go on a course to study some new skills related to my field. As a 3D artist, I was really interested in developing my artistic eye and directing my own learning using my six years of experience in the field of 3D animation and visualisation. With this in mind, I was able to push myself beyond my comfort zone and learn new techniques in the process.
My studies started with the basics of just being able to draw simple everyday objects.
Following this came the preliminary process involved in developing a visual library to draw on for a project as shown below.
Over the year I was mentored by industry veterans on the skills necessary for concept design, story boarding, shot direction and composition. It was an amazing time and I am very appreciative of the opportunity.
These images show some of the concepts and illustrations I produced as part of my professional studies.
It was also a lot of fun to study the greats from the golden age of illustration, such as these by the inimitable Frank Frazetta.
So far, I’ve been utilising my new skills to work on storyboards for clients such as adidas Global, though I’m excited to continue using them on new up-and-coming projects.
